About Us

In 1979, a dedicated group of people joined their first pastor, Rev. Bob Stillwell and began what we know today as Disciples United Methodist Church.

Located on the east side of Greenville, SC at the corner of Riley Smith Drive and Blacks Drive the church is easily accessible from Pelham or Roper Mountain Road.

Our Mission & Vision

The mission of the church is to make disciples of Jesus Christ. Disciple’s  vision statement is that we strive to be a growing family of faith that nurtures a climate of caring and spiritual growth within its membership, celebrates inclusiveness and racial diversity as a reality and continuing goal within its membership and witnesses for fairness, compassion, and love among all God’s people.

Worship Services

  • Early Service 8:45 am

  • Holy Communion is served every Sunday during our 8:45 am service. This early service is more casual in nature, thus very little liturgy is used and our Pastor does not wear a clerical robe.

Our gospel choir provides music which often comes from African-American composers. The choir also leads the congregation in singing from The Faith We Sing Hymnal, Zion Still Sings, and The United Methodist Hymnal.

Morning Worship – 11:00 am

The 11:00 am service is a traditional UMC service, in which the Chancel choir sings anthems and responses. The United Methodist Hymnal guides the congregational singing and liturgy is used. Being a more traditional service, our Pastor and choir wear robes.

Holy Communion is served the first Sunday of each month, while a children’s moment is giving by a lay person twice a month. Children’s church is offered each Sunday except the first Sunday of the month. In both services the liturgical seasons are emphasized. Please join us as we worship and praise God!
